Victor Silverstone, Principal Trumpet of The Gavle Symphony orchestra (Sweden).
He is a graduate of The Gothenburg University (Sweden) with a doctors degree , having studied with prof. Bengt Eklund
(1997-2001). Whilst studying he has taken lessons and participated in master classes with many leading trumpet players
and teachers such as Edward Tarr, Friedemann Immer, Pierre Thibault, Timofei Dokshizer, Adolph ”Bud” Herseth, Phillip Smith,
Armando Ghitalla, Vincent Cichowicz.
As a trumpet soloist Victor Silverstone has won several international trumpet competitions including Ellsworth Smith trumpet
competition(1997), Moscow international trumpet competition (1995), Kiev international trumpet Guild competition(1998).
During the last twenty years mr.Silverstone has worked with many symphony orchestras including The Gothenburg Symphony,
The Royal Philharmonic orchestra ( Stockholm ), Radio Symphony orchestra (Sweden), Stavanger Symphony orchestra (Norway), Norska Opera (Oslo, Norway), Queensland Symphony Orchestra (Australia), Norrkoping Symphony orchestra,
Gothenburg Opera Theatre orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia orchestra (New Zealand) where he spend 4 years (2004-2008)
as principal trumpet.
Mr. Silverstone regularly appears as soloist, recitalist and clinician. He has performed as soloist with Gothenburg Symphony,
Auckland Philharmonia, Christchurch Symphony, Gavle Symphony, Moscow Symphony orchestra .Victor Silverstone has also
appeared with many wind and strings ensembles, he has been a soloist with the Goteborg Brass Band (Sweden) where he played
principal cornet for 4 years, Viva Chamber orchestra, NZChamber Brass and numerous other ensembles.
Mr. Silverstone has been on the faculty of Auckland University (2003-2007), and has appeared as recitalist and clinician
at Norwegian University (Oslo), Gothenburg University (Sweden), University of Florida, Miami University, Columbus State University, University of Wisconsin, University of Missouri, Ithaca College, and at several International Trumpet Guild conferences.
